On May 4, 2024, a run took place in Kaunas' Ąžuolynas Park in memory of Alfonso Vietrinas, the pioneer of marathon running in Lithuania, a multiple long-distance running champion, and record holder. For the first time, the A. Vietrinas Cup run in Kaunas included para-athletes. The event, aimed at popularizing running in our country, identifying the top runners from various age groups, and increasing physical activity among residents, was organized by the Lithuanian Sports University, the Kaunas Running Enthusiasts Club, and the Lithuanian Athletics Federation.
